You have to give the City of Santa Monica credit for doing their utmost to protect their resident businesses. Last week’s emergency preparedness seminar covered every likely eventuality — right up to zombie attacks. (See bullet points.)

Being really really prepared
Monday, June 21st, 2010What’s in a name?
Sunday, February 7th, 2010
This morning, I asked the concierge at my hotel where the nearest ATM was. Lucky for me, it was right down the street. Imagine my surprise when I arrived. Is Rab-o-bank inviting trouble, or just ignorant of multi-lingual translations of their name?
We often help clients brainstorm names and branding for their startups. I guarantee this is not one we would have recommended for a US bank!
New but not better
Friday, November 6th, 2009Want increased productivity? Then maybe the idea of skittering around the office all day is for you.

Note that there’s also a two-seater version so that a colleague can appear equally foolish.
This latest innovation reminds me of an earlier product design, but one with more functionality:

New is not always better.
Writing on walls
Monday, April 27th, 2009We write on the walls all the time (albeit on jumbo Post-It pads). It’s a great way to freeflow ideas — for designs, for campaigns, for new initiatives.
Because those 3′ x 2′ Post-It pads are portable, we’ve used them on client engagements both local and out of state. But for projects in the office, I’m thinking maybe all we need is a new paint job. With the stuff in this video.
COUNTERINTUITY TO AWARD ALL EXPENSES PAID TRIP TO BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN BURBANK
Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009
Counterintuity LLC, a fresh-thinking, leading edge local marketing firm, announced today that they will be giving away an all-expenses paid trip to Burbank at the Valley Business Expo on Thursday, February 5, 2009.
“Anybody can enter a contest to win a trip to Paris or London or Lower Belarus,” said Lee Wochner, Counterintuity’s CEO. “But why go through the hassle of airport security checks and lost luggage and trying to snag tickets to the local tractor pull when beautiful downtown Burbank is right at our fingertips?”
The lucky winner and a guest will receive an impressive package, including a day of private hob-nobbing with some of the Media City’s finest.
Burbank Mayor Dave Golonski will treat two guests to lunch, followed by a happy-hour toast to Burbank with Chamber CEO Gary Olson and staff. The Chamber will of course provide the wine plus an elegant 5-piece wine box courtesy of the Chamber.
But wait, there’s more! You and a guest will enjoy an overnight stay at Burbank’s boutique luxury Hotel Amarano; dinner at Picanha Restaurant; two tickets to see “Candida” at the Colony Theatre; a whopping $20 cash spending money, and reimbursed gas mileage. To top it all, off, your trip will be chronicled with a beautiful commemorative photo of the occasion from Photography as An Art.
Visitors to the Counterinuity booth will automatically be entered to win. In addition, the Counterintuity “Prize Patrol” will be roaming the conference floor.
Counterintuity, a full-service marketing, strategy, public relations and web design firm based in Burbank, is known for its “uncommon sense.” Says Wochner, “We leave the ho hum to others.”

Honestly, I don’t understand where my friends find the time to “virtually fertilize” others’ farms on Farmville or cook too much “virtual onion soup” in Cafe World. Funny, I’m always working while they’re burning stew or plowing fields online. Worse yet, they have to tell me every time they do so.
