People digging around in Facebook’s code — and their patent filings — have found something interesting: It looks like the company is developing a “Want” button.
We know how “Like” works. “Want” seems set to allow Facebook users to publicly show something that they, well, want, from products and services to charitable donations. “Want” will enable advertisers to more directly promote their offerings to people who desire them. This is just the next phase in what promises to be a slew of forthcoming e-commerce improvements from Facebook. We’ve said before that for many organizations, Facebook may provide the best advertising buy around. The addition of “Want” will just increase the value of what are very targeted ads.
