Facebook, arguably the most powerful online marketing platform in the world, has recently simplified its small business policies in regard to administering contests and promotions. With these changes, it’s time to educate yourself so you can max out your small business promotion potential.
Here are three things you NEED to know in order to become a contest-administering guru:
1. Wave bye-bye to promotion apps
Previous policy specified that promotions could be carried out only through third-party apps. Page administrators weren’t able to create contests on their Timelines unless they invested a pretty dollar in using the apps… until now!
2. Tag accurately
While some rules go, others come, and “in order to maintain the accuracy of Page content,” as Facebook states, users are prohibited from tagging themselves in content they are not depicted in. So, keep it accurate, keep it safe.
3. Use the new tools
Contest entries and submissions can be collected via Timeline posts, messages, and comments on status updates—it’s your choice. Likes on a status update can be used as a way to count votes, too.
